The Influence of Aestheticization of Violence in Popular Culture on Attitudes towards the Permissibility of Criminal Behavior

The purpose of the study is to theoretically analyze and systematize scientific ideas about the influence of the aestheticization of violence in modern popular culture (cinema, video games) on the formation of attitudes towards the permissibility of criminal behavior. The problem is considered in a broad philosophical context as a special case of the fundamental antinomy of ethics and aesthetics, which dates back to ancient thought and received a new meaning in the theories of symbolic violence and biopolitics. Methodologically, the article is based on the analysis and theoretical synthesis of Russian and foreign studies combining philosophical, cultural, sociological and psychological approaches. The author's methodological position is explicitly formulated, based on the structural-constructivist concept of P. Bourdieu and the biopolitical analysis of M. Foucault and J. Agambena. The material for the study was both classical works that reveal the genesis of the problem, as well as modern scientific research on the problems of aestheticization of violence, the influence of screen violence on aggression, and the mechanisms of legitimization of violence in popular culture. The theoretical foundation of the article also includes the ideas of E. Fromm on biophilic and necrophilic orientations and E. Durkheim on anomie, which allow to deepen the understanding of socio-cultural mechanisms of legitimization of violence. In the course of the research, such conceptual nodes as reverse mimesis, moral neutralization through “gray morality”, desensitization and anesthesia of moral feeling, atomization of the social subject, as well as the biopolitical function of fear and mediatized violence are highlighted and critically interpreted.
