Not ours: the attitude of migrants – attitudes towards migrants

The purpose of the paper is to identify the specifics of sociocultural interaction of migrant workers and local population in Russia. To achieve this goal, the author analyzes statistical data on migration flows, causes of labor migration and factors affecting migrants' adaptation. Issues related to cultural conflicts, interethnic stereotypes and the role of the media in shaping public opinion. To better understand the topic, a series of interviews with migrants and the local population was conducted. The results of the study revealed the opinions of the local population and migrant workers about each other, difficulties encountered in the process of integration of foreigners, ethnic stereotypes, and attitude towards the migration policy of the state.
