This article provides a concise review of the recently published Russian translation of Nick Land’s “The Thirst for Annihilation: Georges Bataille and Virulent Nihilism” (translated by Oleg Lunev-Korobsky and Vasily Kamenskikh). It examines Land’s juxtaposition of authentic communication – conceived as immanent expenditure – against the transcendent fictions of personal autonomy, social institutions, and the One. The analysis focuses on the concept of the “zero” emerging from an unconventional synthesis of Hegelian negativity and Bataillean heterology, as well as Land’s reconceptualization of nihilism as a virulent force.
