Study of Demographic and Migration Processes in the Sakhalin Region in the XX–XXI centuries

The purpose of the article is to determine the degree of study of demographic and migration processes in the Sakhalin Region from the beginning of research on this topic to the present day. To achieve this goal, all socio-humanitarian studies (in the field of history, sociology, ethnography, economics, political science) affecting issues of demography and migration in the Sakhalin Region, both in the historical context and at the present stage, were identified and systematized; an analysis of scientific literature was conducted, the main author's approaches and topics were identified; a periodization of the study of demographic and migration processes in the region was compiled. The study is based on the principles of objectivity, historicism and consistency; the author's periodization of the history of studying the topic is based on the problem-chronological approach. Insufficient study, the absence of comprehensive systematic studies of demographic and migration processes in the region are noted.
